Computer Generati
First Generation Computers (1940-1956)- During the first generation, computers were with vacuum tubes. Vacuum tube is an electronic tube is made of glass used as computer components to store and process data. The problems of are generates lots of heat that can damage computer and tubes can burnt out frequently. ENIAC is first generation computer that contains weight of 30 tons, 18000 vacuum tubes, 30-50 foots space and 16 000 watts power. advantage of this computer in this era : the using of vacuum tube that can store and process data.
Second Generation Computer (1956-1963) , Transistor were use to replace vacuum tube in computer.
Transistor are small device that transfer electronic signal across register. One transistor replaced the equivalent of 40 vacuum tubes. Transistor do not produce a lot of heat and use less power. Transistor were faster, keeper and smaller than vacuum tube. The new computers were faster, smaller, and more reliable than the 1st generation machine. Advantage of computer in this era : the using of transistor was better than vacuum tube.
Fourth Generation Computer (1971-Present), the microprocessor brought the fourth generation of computer , as thousand of integrated circuit were built onto a single silicon chip. What is the 1st generation fill an entire room could now fix in the palm of the hand. The Intel 4004 chips, develop in 1971, located all the component of the computer - from the Central Processing Unit and memory to input - output control - on a single chip. Advantage of the computer in this era : computer are 100 smaller than ENIAC computer in 1st generation.
Fifth Generation Computer (Present - Beyond ), fight generation computer device based on artificial intelligence are still in development, through there some application, such voice recognition, that are being use today.
